Birthday Place Mat

It's Trouble's birthday week. I can't believe it. He'll be 8 on Saturday. Time sure does fly!

A birthday tradition I started a few years back is the 'Birthday Place Mat'. It only takes five minutes to do and Trouble absolutely loves it.

I decorate a sheet of scrapbook paper with whatever he's into at the moment (right now it's superheros). I place the decorated paper where Trouble eats at the kitchen table.

Then I lay a section of clear contact paper over the decorated page onto the table. This gives Trouble a little reminder that his big day is on the way.

I know it's a little cheesy, but the big smile and special birthday memories are worth the silly paper attached to the kitchen table for a week.

Ahhhh... to be young and love birthdays.
