I've had this old tv tray for a while now, just sitting around waiting to become something a little better. Yes...it's just as ugly in person and no... I don't know why I purchased it in the first place.
Trouble uses magnetic letters on a cookie sheet to practice his spelling words. The cookie sheet works but it would be super if he had his own metal sheet to work on and I could have my cookie sheet back. An added bonus would be if he could use the metal sheet as a chalk board too.
I taped off the areas on the tray that I didn't want to become chalkboard.
Next I sprayed a layer of Krylon chalkboard spray paint over the tray and let it dry.
Now Trouble has his own place to practice his spelling words and...
I can leave sweet messages for the family.

I love it and I am SO gonna write that on my chalkboard! ROFLOL! Chris

ReplyDeleteWhat an excellent idea!!
ReplyDeleteEat It or Starve! Now that is way too funny!
I recently saw another funny one...a mom of eight year old boy twins redecorate their bathroom and stenciled on the wall something to the effect of:
My aim is to keep this bathroom clean...your correct aim is greatly appreciated!.
Oh Joan, I need to put that in the bathroom too. My current bathroom saying for Trouble is "Brush the teeth you'd like to keep."
ReplyDeleteI LOVE IT :}:} just had to share with my facebook world.
ReplyDeleteI've said THAT to eight children throughout the years...Love it!

I laughed out loud at your message Eat it or Starve! I seriously feel like saying that sometimes!! :) Cute project idea!!
ReplyDeleteLove the sweet message to the family. :) Short and to the point. I did the same thing with an ugly tray and my daughter spells words on it all of the time with chalk or magnetic letters. We take it places in a backpack and people marvel at how creative I am. Really, I just sprayed a tray but let them think differently! Gotta love chalkboard paint!!
ReplyDeleteReally cute~ love making chalkboards~yours turned out darling. I host a decorating party on Fridays if you would like to come share sometime!
ReplyDeleteLove it! I've not had much luck with the paint on type chalkboard paint, I'll have to get a can of spray and try that instead - Jennifer

Love, Love, Love it! Very creative & thanks for the laughs "Eat it or Starve". BTW- Our staff appreciation at school is this week. We made your fortune cookie - "fortunate to have you" box. Thanks again! Wondering where you found the Asian-style font for your note.
ReplyDeleteDoreen- Thanks for the kind words! I found the font for the fortune cookies on Microsoft Word (it's called MandarinSCD).
