Oatmeal With Options

Here's another admission, I eat oatmeal almost every morning for breakfast. So what... who cares! It doesn't mean I'm an old lady.
I buy oatmeal in bulk at my favorite grocery store. Old fashioned rolled oats are my absolute favorite. The oatmeal costs $.89 a pound. A pound of oatmeal makes about 15 servings, that's 15 breakfasts for $.89 (around $.06 per serving).

Making Oatmeal
To make one serving of oatmeal, simply combine 1/2 cup oats, 1 cup water (or milk) and a dash of salt in a pot. Bring to a boil then cook over medium heat for about 3-5 minutes, stirring occasionally until desired consistency is achieved. Add favorite mix-ins.

  • Make oatmeal with milk instead of water

PS-The oat is called a groat after the hull has been removed.
Old Fashioned Oats are groats that are steamed and rolled but not cut.
